After getting
my creative writing degree and having two plays produced at the
University of Victoria, British Columbia, I went to Darwin,
Australia to write and direct for the television show Women Today.
A year later, I was back
in Vancouver to begin my career in the film industry starting
with the 1st season of the TV series X Files. It’s been seveteen years now and I’ve worked for studios like Warner Bros., Fox Studio, Paramount, and Revolution on films such as Santa Clause 2, Freddy
vs. Jason, and Like Cats and Dogs. I’ve also worked
on smaller, independent films and television shows like Fetching Cody (written by a first time writer) and the New Addams Family. I’ve worked with award-winning writers
like Marie Clements and I’m the in-house
story consultant for On Cue Entertainment Inc.
Though credentials are important, I think what really matters is
that everyday I work beside writers, directors and
producers to create stories. Whether in production meetings or
on set, I’m there wrestling with the realities of bringing the
script to life. I’m there when the director and the actors are
fighting with the stiffness of the dialogue and the shallowness
of the characters, or when the other creative departments are
having difficulty with the script because of inconsistencies and
logic holes. I know what they want and I know how to solve the
story problems when the script isn’t working for them.
I believe in the magic
of filmmaking – but it only happens when the script is ready!
So whether you’re a professional
